R&F Paints 1lb White Beeswax R&F Paints White Beeswax is the main ingredient in encaustic paint. The granulated wax is not bleached, which can break down the wax, instead it has been decolorized through mechanical filtration. You can use White Beeswax along with Damar Resin to make your own encaustic medium (9 parts wax to 2 parts resin), use it for encaustic without the resin, or use the straight beeswax as an initial priming coat on your paper or panel. If you choose to use it for encaustic without using resin the resulting surface will be less hard, less polishable, more dust-attractive and it will have a lower melting temperature.
